Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Freedom (lecture)
Andy identifies some of the urgent challenges facing society and the way we are governed, all of which is about to be thrown into relief by the transformational power of artificial intelligence and especially how it will affect ‘alternative’ thinkers. We are told that AI could bring the human race freedom from many burdens but who will decide on the orthodoxies that the algorithms will follow, as they begin to determine all available knowledge? As AI threatens to make us redundant in our own world, what will freedom even mean when biology and technology become merged? Andy highlights the massive dilemmas AI is presenting – using practical demonstrations – and considers which gifts may yet remain unique to organic life. Some of the AI nightmare scenarios postulated by science fiction may yet be avoided... Recorded at the 2023 Glastonbury Symposium.
The New Heretics: Polarisation, Alternative Thinking and Freedom
Andy looks at the key alternative issues of our times and explores how his book The New Heretics highlights serious problems with the way that freedom of expression and the right to question is being destroyed by an establishment that seems to believe suppression actually changes people’s minds – when it doesn’t. In turn, the belief of alternative thinkers that everyday politicians and official versions of mainstream global events have no validity at all may be equally misplaced. Andy investigates how to find a balance between the two approaches. Recorded at the Glastonbury Symposium 2022.
Andy Thomas on the Richard Vobes Show (interview)
This is Andy's appearance on the very popular Richard Vobes Show, discussing his book The New Heretics. Despite covering the book’s all-too-relevant and serious themes of defending free expression and avoiding polarisation in mainstream, alternative and paranormal realms, this discussion between Richard and Andy is lively and entertaining and offers ways forward to help avoid divide-and-rule traps and keep our heads up in repressive times. Richard Vobes (sometimes known as ‘The Bald Explorer’) has a huge following and has recently been doing excellent work in highlighting important issues. Recorded April 2023.
The New Heretics and Modern Blasphemies (lecture)
This condensed presentation, given in February 2022 in London’s leading alternative bookshop Watkins Books, makes for a usefully concise summary of the key themes of Andy’s book The New Heretics, concerning threats to freedom of expression and the need to allow people their own beliefs when they question all kinds of orthodoxies, lest we enter further into a dystopia of unreasonable censorship. An audience Q&A follows.
A Conspiracy History of the World (lecture)
Why do people believe in conspiracy theories, and what is the real evidence to support them? Andy explores the history of conspiracies, from the Roman Empire, the Gunpowder Plot and the World Wars, to JFK, Watergate, the NASA missions, Princess Diana, 9/11, the New World Order, and other controversies in a fascinating journey. Recorded at the 2013 Open Mind conference in Denmark, this is Andy's most watched online presentation, with over 900,000 views on YouTube so far.
Andy Thomas interviews Rupert Sheldrake
Andy conducts an interview with special guest Rupert Sheldrake, the renowned author, scientist and researcher whose work on telepathy, intuition and ‘morphic resonance’ has challenged rampant scientism. Rupert talks through the many fascinating aspects of his work and highlights potentially crucial areas that could change our entire conception of how the universe operates, entertainingly and insightfully challenging the unhelpful dogma of 'the science delusion’. Recorded as a Zoom presentation for the Glastonbury Symposium Online event 2020.
CENSORED: Truth and Free Speech in an Age of Mass Censorship (lecture)
Andy exposes the now rapid and threatening programme of online censorship, which is removing certain ‘alternative’ topics from immediate public view through adjusted algorithms and vanished links. With this being done to protect people from claimed ‘fake news’, who is protecting those who try to keep real discussions about truth and freedom alive? Andy encourages people to wake up to the new onslaught against all unorthodox thinking and considers the ultimate implications of its removal from the public eye. What should the role of truth seekers be in the face of such overt opposition, and how can genuine free speech be kept alive in censorial times..? Recorded at the Glastonbury Symposium 2019.
Interview on crop circles (Vice Media TV Show)
Vice Media has a significant online global outreach. The '10 Questions' segment is designed to give coverage to people from all walks of life with unusual experiences and beliefs and allow them to speak about their work. In August 2018 Andy was the central subject of '10 Questions You Always Wanted to Ask a Crop Circle Theorist'. It has now been watched by millions of people. Although rather simplistically and heavily edited to cover mainly alien theories about crop circles, it still makes for an interesting snapshot of the phenomenon.
A Short Guide to Conspiracies (interview)
Andy gives a useful compact overview of why people believe in conspiracies and discusses a few prominent examples from history and modern times. He shows why it matters that we do openly talk about these areas and identifies some of the fascinating grey areas that lie between the polarities of complete belief and complete denial when it comes to conspiracies. Filmed during the Open Mind Conference in Skanderborg, Denmark, in September 2013.
Exploring Paranormal Mysteries and Cover-Ups (lecture)
In a thought-provoking presentation, Andy explores some of the most famous global mysteries, finding intriguing linking threads between them. What is the truth about UFOs, crop circles, ghosts, the Bermuda Triangle, strange creatures, religious apparitions, psychic phenomena and visions of the future? Andy shows why and how ‘the unexplained’ is actively covered-up and falsely sidelined by academics, and examines the connection to shadowy secret elites and their fascination with ancient symbolism. Recorded at the Open Minds conference in Waterford, Ireland, 2019.
False 'Liberalism', Social Controls... and Crop Circles (lecture)
Andy demonstrates how nuanced debate is being shut down through a process of ‘mechanised liberalism’ – a form of censorship enforced in the name of ‘protecting’ people’s sensibilities. Andy uses his own experience in the entertainment world to demonstrate how ambience has been compressed out of pop music over the years; a metaphor for the polarisation we are forced into. At the same time, he assess the current state of the crop circle phenomenon, which maintains its excellence for all the false hankering for a non-existent ‘golden age’, using this as another metaphor to show there are still positive balances in the world, offering hope for the future. Recorded at the Glastonbury Symposium 2018.
Trump, Fake News, Post-Truth and Brexit (lecture)
Andy takes a sideways look at the continual media focus on the rise of Donald Trump, ‘fake news’, ‘post-truth’ and Brexit, and questions some of the assumptions being made about them. Was there really ever a pre-‘post-truth’ era, and if news is fake, which news, and who should be the arbiters of truth? Proposed ‘solutions’ seriously risk closing down legitimate alternative enquiry. Rather than living in the “dark” times we keep being told they are, could the challenges we are currently being presented with actually be the very things that help usher in a new and better era? Recorded at the Glastonbury Symposium 2017.
Understanding Conspiracy Theories (lecture)
Conspiracies are rife throughout our society, yet the mainstream media scornfully dismisses belief in them as 'fake news' even when there is good evidence to support doubts about official narratives. In this entirely improvised presentation, recorded on 31 August 2017 (the 20th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana) at London's famous shop Watkins Books, Andy Thomas discusses why conviction in conspiracies refuses to go away and gives a useful overview of some of the more prominent cases and thinking covered in his acclaimed book 'Conspiracies'.
The New World Order Conspiracy (TV show)
An interview with Andy investigating the concept of the New World Order as a global conspiracy steered and manipulated behind the scenes by a powerful elite... Conducted by presenter Lucas Alexander of 'Age of Truth TV', this 90 minute interview was filmed during the Open Mind Conference in Skanderborg, Denmark, in September 2013.
Brexit: Surviving the Shock of the New (lecture)
This talk is a must for anyone still concerned about the UK’s ‘Brexit’ vote, or pleased but fending off unhappy friends or family. In this talk from the 2016 Glastonbury Symposium, Andy looks at the deeper historical reasons why Brexit was voted for and questions some of the assumptions being made about it, seeing how we can best thrive in this altered landscape and avoid some of the classic divide-and-rule tactics being played on all of us along the way.
Making the Leap: Opportunities for Transformation (lecture)
Andy 'takes the temperature' of the now tangible shift of social, political and spiritual awareness occurring all around us, seeing how current global events are shaping this. We have an opportunity, right here, right now, to make a leap into a whole new way of being. But with encroaching control of the Internet, a growing onslaught of establishment propaganda from a complicit media, and the intense focusing of public attention on the acceptance of war as a ‘necessary’ evil, we now need to address these issues and find areas which could help to make a real difference. Recorded at the Glastonbury Symposium 2015.
Transforming The Global Agenda (lecture)
Presented for Edinburgh's Awakened State group in 2014, Andy takes the temperature of contemporary global events and looks at how amidst all the crises, cover-ups, elitist agendas and media manipulation we can still create opportunities for positive change and transformation.
Entering a New Era of Change (lecture)
Andy examines the key issues and opportunities of our times, as we find ourselves in the much-prophesied ‘New Era’ at last. Could it be, as many long-suspected, that the changes are going to be rather more subtle, and take more time to unfold, than sensationalists believed? If so, what should our priorities be in this New Era, and how do we make the most of what many would agree is still an extraordinary period of revelation and shift..? Recorded at the Glastonbury Symposium 2013.
Andy Thomas and Marcus Allen interview on lunar conspiracies (TV show)
In 2012, Andy guest hosted an edition of Sky 200's 'On The Edge' show for 'Controversial/Edge TV', and interviewed Nexus Magazine's Marcus Allen about his renowned alternative views on the Moon landings and ancient mysteries. The discussion provides a useful introduction to many of the key themes around the lunar-hoax theory, and gives some interesting insights into the alternative mindset.
Ancient Prophecies and Creation Day (lecture)
Andy exposes how misinformation put out by the media to ridicule the ‘2012 prophecies’ missed the point. The notion that big changes were due to happen all in one go was always a massive assumption on the part of just a few people, and it may take decades, even centuries, for the full effect of the turning of the ancient Great Cycle to be appreciated. Yet massive change IS occurring in our world, and Andy explores what the Mayan ‘Creation Day’ predictions might really mean for us all. Recorded at the Glastonbury Symposium 2012.
The Truth Agenda (lecture)
Andy gives a condensed insight into his book The Truth Agenda, unexplained mysteries, global cover-ups and ancient prophecies, as filmed at the Weird conference, Swindon, UK, in September 2011. [Filmed by Pentos TV]
'On The Edge' interview with Andy Thomas (TV show)
This comprehensive and candid interview with Andy was broadcast on Sky 200's 'On The Edge' show (presented by Theo Chalmers) in 2009, and provides a broad overview of Andy's work with unexplained mysteries and truth issues.
We ARE Conspiracy Theorists (lecture)
Andy explores what it means to be a conspiracy theorist and investigates the links between unexplained mysteries and the prophecies of a new era following 2012, as recorded at the 2009 Glastonbury Symposium, UK.
The Age of Media Smugness (lecture)
Andy examines how the mainstream media present skewed versions of reality, which unfairly dismiss important areas of 'fringe' investigation and feed us manipulative filtering and arrogant attitudes, as recorded at 2009's The Alternative View conference in Bristol, UK.
The Era of Turmoil – Lifting The Blindfold (lecture)
Andy looks at the implications of world events and what they mean for the truthseeking community, exploring ways in which eras of change and prophetic expectations for a shift of consciousness in our times can be tapped into positively, as recorded at 2009's The Alternative View conference at Heathrow, UK.
Metaphysics and the Thought Police (lecture)
Andy exposes how the ever-increasing restrictions on liberty in the West could result in people unwittingly becoming law-breakers under growing legislation. Draconian restrictions over everything from natural health to psychic channelling may result in the apparently innocent crossing the line into subversiveness. With spiritualist meetings now, by law, obliged to advertise their services as being ‘for entertainment purposes only' in the UK, and the sale of previously harmless natural substances becoming criminal acts, how long will it be before truth movements and mystery researchers find themselves at the wrong end of the Thought Police..? Recorded at the Glastonbury Symposium 2008.
The Limitations of Love and Light (lecture)
Andy asks whether some alternative thinkers are succumbing to ‘fluffy bunny’ syndrome – all love and light and no action. With too much reliance on New Age speculation and gazing through rose-tinted glasses, it can be easy to forget that there is a world out there without these perspectives and a dangerous global war of misplaced ideals going on, ignored at our peril. It may now be the duty of alternative thinkers to stand up and put their supposedly wider perceptions to REAL use, to help balance extreme polarised world views. Recorded at the Glastonbury Symposium, 2006.
For the Love of Lunar Conspiracy (TV show)
This classic programme, first broadcast on the UK's Channel 4 in 1997, features Andy Thomas in a very early TV appearance as one of a panel of truth researchers who discuss theories that the Moon landings may have been faked, or at least misrepresented. Presented by the author and journalist Jon Ronson, other guests include Mary Bennett, David Percy, Marcus Allen, Barry Reynolds and Matthew Williams. The programme was Channel 4's most-requested repeat that year!
Circular Sussex (documentary by Andy Thomas)
Filmed and produced by Andy back in 1993 and 1994, and edited by Jason Porthouse, 'Circular Sussex' documents the crop circle phenomenon at a time when East and West Sussex was receiving many new formations, some striking, others rather rough (as can be seen here), but all of them interesting. Focussing on the activities of the Southern Circular Research Group, then a branch of the Centre for Crop Circle Studies, this sometimes dream-like and impressionistic short film (made with simple Video 8 cameras) captures something of the halcyon days of enthusiastic Sussex circle-hunting. Narrated by the late psychic and voiceover artist Paul Bura, with music by Andy Thomas and David Swingland.
