Below are PDF copies of three early books by Andy that are no longer in print but can be read below for free! Just click on the links to access the pages. 

Andy’s forthcoming new book Strange makes a number of references to extraordinary events that took place in the 1990s, some of which were originally documented in Andy’s very first books Fields of Mystery (1996) and Quest for Contact (1997), concerning crop circle investigation and psychic questing that took place in the English county of Sussex. His later compilation book Swirled Harvest (2003) is also referenced. It therefore seemed time to make these books, long out of print, available again as free PDF files below.

Andy says: “Although the books are inevitably not written or laid out as I would ideally present them today, and my style has matured enormously since (I hope), they still contain some very valuable information and tell the story of my early years as a paranormal researcher and the work carried out by me and my colleagues, giving more detail on events referred to in my forthcoming book on the unexplained …”

Fields of Mystery: The Crop Circle Phenomenon in Sussex (SB Publications, 1996)

This was Andy’s very first book and records the crop circles that appeared in his home counties of East and West Sussex in England up to 1995 (as were known about then) and some of the very curious events and bizarre sightings that occurred around them. The book was a big success and happily paved the way for Andy’s later more ambitious books. Fields of Mystery has a preface by Lord Denis Healey (a politician famous for photographing crop circles near his Sussex home) and an introduction by well-regarded circle researcher Michael Glickman.

Quest for Contact: A True Story of Crop Circles, Psychics and UFOs (SB Publications, 1997)

Co-written with the psychic Paul Bura (who died in 2013), this second book by Andy tells the intriguing and elaborate tale of how Paul, Andy and an intrepid bunch of crop circle researchers embarked on a quest to film a crop circle appearing using channelled guidance and wound up having extraordinary experiences and inexplicable synchronicities that still resonate today. [This article contains a very short resume of what occurred.] Quest for Contact has a foreword by philosopher and metaphysician Stanley Messenger.

Swirled Harvest: Views from the Crop Circle Frontline (SB Publications/Vital Signs Publishing, 2003)

This is mostly a collection of edited and updated articles on crop circles and related matters from the regular journal Andy used to edit, the Sussex Circular, with two brand new chapters unavailable elsewhere. These pieces make up a fascinating and valuable record of what life was like at the heart of crop circle investigation culture when it was at its height, and the dilemmas, disputes and discoveries that were its lifeblood. Swirled Harvest has a foreword by historian Laurence Gardner and contains what is still one of the most detailed reports available on the debates over the controversial 1996 video of a crop formation being created at Oliver’s Castle, and many other aspects of paranormal research.
